A storage building on skids, or one of 120 square feet or less, needs a city permit under a 2012 ordinance, and shipping containers are barred as storage buildings outside certain zones. A rented unit needs no city permit. Our lot at 311 E Sears St in downtown Denison is about 21 miles away by TX 56 and US 75, so compare a rented unit with the building before you buy one.

Questions
We offer self storage and commercial storage in climate-controlled and standard units from 5x10 to 20x45.
Residents may hold three garage sales in any 12 months, each up to three days in a row, under an ordinance from 2000. A written statement goes to the city secretary at least 48 hours before the sale, with a $5 registration fee. Up to three city residents may combine their things at one sale. Whatever does not sell can go into a storage unit.
Quarter-size hail fell in the city on March 14, 2022, and ping-pong-size hail fell about three miles west of town on June 15, 2023, with power lines down on TX 56. On December 8, 2008, a tornado that touched down near Collinsville damaged about 15 homes close to town. Storm repairs often mean clearing a room first, so keep belongings out of the way in a 10x10 unit.
Only the city's authorized contractor may haul garbage or trash for hire on city streets, under a 2002 ordinance. Residents with regular service from that contractor may haul their own brush, debris, or trash now and then. Keep the pieces you are storing apart, ready for a 5x10 unit.
The city's posted permit fee schedule lists a complete remodel with approved plans at a fee based on the project valuation, with $20 added, and a residential roof replacement under $10,000 at $90. A remodel clears rooms for weeks, and storage for your furniture keeps the pieces out of the dust.
